FIREWORKS FUNDRAISER 2010

July the fourth is upon us, and we are very happy to announce that the Fillmore Church of Christ has been selected to benefit from a Fireworks Booth again this year. The proceeds from last year have benefitted our congregation, youth and community greatly. We were able to repair some major safety issues with our building, help people in need and make a large donation to a program called Grad Nite Live which gives High School Graduates a safe and responsible evening following their graduation.

This year, we hope to have much success again. We would love to focus even more on our Youth program, Children's Church and once again, helping those in need. We would really appreciate you helping us by letting people that might be interested in purchasing 4th of July Fireworks know about our booth. The booth will be operated by members of the congregation, so if you come in the area, please come say hello!  Just like last year, we will also be using our booth as an evangelistic tool for those that come -  by giving out a bookmark with a simple message to reach out and simply meet needs of those that are hurting and seeking something better than the daily grind of life.

Our Fireworks booth will be in the same spot as last year. The booth is very easy to find. It’s located in the Vons Shopping Center next to Starbucks, where highway 126 and the 23 intersect. The booth opens Monday the 28th in the afternoon and will be open during the daytime until the late evening of July 4th

FIREWORKS FUNDRAISER

Greetings to you in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. July the fourth is upon us, and so is a unique opportunity that has been afforded the congregation in Fillmore this year. As many of you may know, many organizations in the City of Fillmore operate Fireworks Booths in the week prior to the Fourth of July. A few weeks ago one of the regular organizations backed out and the Fillmore congregation was called and offered their booth.

This couldn’t have come at a better time because of some unexpected repair issues with the church building; this fundraiser could potentially help the church financially recover quickly. We’re aware that many of the fireworks sales in Fillmore come from the cities surrounding the Fillmore community, so if yours is one of the many families that drive over to purchase fireworks, we would love for you to come to the Fillmore Church of Christ booth. The booth will be operated by members of the congregation. As well as selling fireworks, we’ll be using our booth as an evangelistic tool for those that come by giving out a bookmark with a simple message to reach out and simply meet needs of those that are hurting and seeking something better than the daily grind of life.

The Fireworks booth is very easy to find. It’s located in the Vons Shopping Center next to Starbucks, where highway 126 and the 23 intersect. The booth opens Sunday the 28th in the afternoon and will be open during the daytime until the afternoon of July 4th.

Working with you for Him,

Fillmore Church of Christ Minister, Barry Fike's new book

Fillmore Church of Christ's Minister Barry Fike has just written a new book about the history of baptism. We are so blessed to have Barry as our minister right here in Fillmore.

Barry gave a wonderful series of lessons on early baptism which inspired us to begin recording his sermons and posting them online. We encourage you to check out Barry's many sermons posted here on this website under the 'Sermon Archive' section.

Barry's book is available at amazon.com. Please click here to find it online:

Here's the description from the publisher:
Most Christians understand baptism as an undeniable doctrine of early Christianity. What most don’t grasp is that this practice goes far beyond the confines of Jesus and John the Baptist to some of the earliest recorded stages of the people of God, meaning that it has always been a part of the plan of God for the redemption of mankind. In this book, Barry Fike goes back into the Hebrew background of the concept of Christian baptism into the Jewish understanding of this ritual of cleanliness to show that our present understanding needs to have some backdrop to correctly identify a practice that has been discussed for at least 2000 years among Christians. While this isn’t the last word on the subject, it does raise significant questions and undeniable facts that need to be looked at in their original context both sociologically and theologically.

WELCOME!

"We are the Family of Christ, growing together in His likeness, through His Spirit, dedicated to praising, loving and serving God and sharing the Good News with others in word and deed."
